How to Teach Your Dog Tricks
Having a dog as a pet can be a rewarding experience. Not only do you have the unconditional love of an animal, but you have the companionship of a great friend, as well.
One good way to spend time with your dog is to teach it tricks. Knowing tricks will mean you can show off how smart your dog is to your friends, and teaching the dog the tricks is quality time you get to spend with it. If you train your dog properly, it can be a lot of fun for both of you!
The first thing to remember when teaching your dog tricks is patience. Your dog won't understand what you want right away, so you need to be willing to work slowly with your dog until it can understand and respond to what you're asking. If you get frustrated, your dog will, too, and the training won't work.
Another important part of training is consistency. For example, if you use the word "Down" to get your dog to lie down, use that word every time. Don't switch to "Lay" or anything else. This will just confuse your dog and keep you both from success.
There are lots of great resources both online and in print to help you teach your dog tricks. You can use them to get you started, then tailor your training to match your dog's personality and do what works for the two of you.
One of the most basic commands is "Sit," and this can be an easy trick to teach. Begin with your dog standing. Give the command, whether it be a vocal "Sit" or a hand gesture, then press gently on your dog's back until it lowers to a sitting position. When it fulfills this command, praise your dog and give a treat.
Keep up this process, but each time you give the command, wait a little longer before pressing down on your dog's back and giving the treat. Eventually, your dog will understand that you want it to sit down in order to get the treat. And after that, your dog will sit without getting a treat as a reward. However, even if you don't reward with a treat, make sure you praise your dog for sitting on command to give positive reinforcement for good behavior.
Teaching your dog tricks can be a great experience for you both! The time you spend together will strengthen your relationship, and the positive reinforcement you give your dog will help it feel even more loved. Just remember that patience and consistency are the keys to success!
Teaching a dog new tricks also keeps your dog alert and happy. Make sure you have the proper Dog Supplies, and for proper nutrition so your dog will stay healthy and happy, the proper Dog Supplements.

Dominance And Dogs Aggression Issues
Some of the dog's breed love playful stuffs. However, they are totally related into their freedoms as well as independence within their homes together with the other family members. They totally love communicating using their own ways. If you tried asking them to kneel around, sit and stand, it could totally hurt their egos. Well, dogs of such breeds are usually powerful. They totally love the idea of being just a companion or being dominated by their masters.
On the other hand, they also know their good acts and mistakes. If you are in a bad mood and you try punishing them, your dog will certainly realize it and find their way out of your sight. Keep in mind that overdoing similar punishment could totally bring out a unique aggression into him. Once certain instance is that, he will be hiding from you. This is for the reason that he already understand that he did not do something wrong. This matter will make him think that he is guilty.
Moreover, if you started over reacting and finding him around the house, he could take this as threat. Keep in mind that aggression is a dog's natural response if he thinks that there is a threat around him. He will then start growling and barking at you, though you are only after to save him. Once you had realize d that he is taking it as a threat, your first act must be sin neutralizing the situation. This would totally help you out in bringing back the trust that your pet have for you.

Dealing With a Dogs Chewing Problems
Puppies chew things. A new puppy, left isolated in a kitchen while the owner is out of the home, will chew chair legs, window sills, molding, and anything else that he can find to alleviate the discomfort caused by his newly emerging teeth. Once the teeth are fully in, this type of chewing usually stops automatically. During the puppy stage, it is a good idea to isolate the dog in a pen or a crate that keeps him away from household items that can be damaged, and protects the dog by keeping him away from electrical cords and other undefined dangers. While isolated, the dog should have access to appropriate chewing toys that will help to ameliorate his teething discomforts and get him used to playing with his own toys.
Some dogs continue to chew after the puppy stage is passed. Others stop chewing at this stage, only to begin again later. Chronic chewing after puppy-hood is usually an indication of boredom. Regardless of the dog's reason for chewing, however, the habit can run up some serious and preventable repair costs.
If the dog is left to roam the house at will, his furniture chewing habit can often be curtailed by applying a bitter-apply spray or Tabasco sauce to the exposed wooden areas to which the dog has access. Spraying surfaces with ammonia has also been used with some success. The best solution, however, is the same as that suggested for chewers at the puppy stage. Isolate the dog in a safe pen, area, or crate with plenty of toys.
Be careful when selecting toys for your dog to ensure that bones or chew toys cannot splinter or provide small attachments that can become lodged in the dog's throat. Dogs have choked to death from having the wrong toys.
It's very difficult to catch the bored chewer in the act. When you are around, the dog is probably not bored, having you to give him attention. If you do catch him chewing, give him a sharp "no" command. Praise him openly when he stops chewing, and give him one of his chew toys to continue chewing on. If you notice a chewed area when you return from work, suppress the urge to scold the dog or punish him in any way. The dog will not understand that he is being punished for an act that took place hours ago.
What appears to many to be another solution to chewing inside the house, is banishing the dog to the back yard when you are away from home. This may not be the best idea if the yard is not danger proofed. Chronic chewers can chew on poisonous plants, get splinters in the throat, and swallow objects that might require surgery to remove.
When selecting toys, never underestimate the old rolled up sock. Dogs love them, and they offer little danger. The dog will easily recognize the sock as his toy after he has used it for sufficient time to recognize his smell. Don't wash the sock unless it has participated in an accident. The scent of the old sock is its identifier as the dog's own.
With proper training, isolation when required, protective sprays, and dedicated toys, your dog will be able to enjoy his idle time without fear of punishment, and you will be able to trust him at home without worrying about damage.

Stop Your Dog Jumping Problems
A key part of training your dog is to teach him to not jump up on people. Puppies just seem to jump on people naturally. As it puppy, it may not seem like a big deal. However, when the puppy grows up, it can be a much bigger issue.
When a big dog likes to jump up on people, it is likely that it will catch someone off guard and injure them. With some firm, consistent training, you can stop your dog from jumping.
Here's How to Start
There are numerous reasons why a dog might like to jump. A dog will often jump when it wants to say "hi". The reason for this is that one dog will usually great another by smelling around the other's face. Since your face is so high, your dog jumps to try and reach you.
Jumping can also be from you previously rewarding him when he does so. The affection you show when he gets excited to see you tells your dog that jumping up is the right behavior. Any kind of attention to the behavior, good or bad, can reinforce the jumping behavior in your dog.
If you want to keep your dog from jumping, you will need to train consistently to re-wire his thinking. To do this, try one or more of the following. Don't make coming home an exciting event. If your dog jumps to greet you, ignore him until he stops. Make sure any visitors are on the same page with this training also.
Rather than your dog trying to reach your face, get down so that he can get to you without jumping.
A great trick to keep your dog from jumping is to ignore the behavior. Once he's calmed down, you can lavish him in praise. If you are still having issues, hold out your hand and push your dog away using his nose when he jumps. Your dog will soon get the picture that jumping is not a desired behavior.
More to Teach Your Dog
Something else that you should do is teach your dog to sit. This is one of the most important commands that you can teach. Once your pooch has this command under control, you can stop any bad behavior by telling him to sit.
Another good thing to teach your dog is "off." Tell him "off" anytime he jumps up and push him down.
They key to winning this game is to be consistent in "stop dog jumping" training. If you show patience and consistency, you can stop dog jumping

Getting a Good Hunting Dog
Are you one of those guys who love to go out on a hunt in the wild but cannot do so because you don't have the company of a good hunting dog? That doesn't mean you should give up on your hunting activity. You can take some effort in choosing a good hunting dog. These dogs are normally chosen to locate prey or reclaim the prey after it has been shot down. They can also terrify other animals when they are used in a group, especially when they are used to hunt down foxes.
Choosing a the right dog requires a fine combination of patience and skills. First, you have to decide what type of hunting dog you are interested in. If you are interested in hunting birds, then choose a dog accordingly. You can get dogs or puppies with hardly any training; besides this you also have young hunting dogs with some amount of training. On the other hand, there are many types of dogs that have been given the complete training by their trainers.
If you want to save your valuable time and effort, look for highly trained dogs. For example, if you are interested in hunting for a particular type of bird, choose a hunting dog accordingly. You will definitely get a dog that has been trained to look for any type of bird you are interested in. If your dog is pure bred, you will notice it is a lot better. You will definitely note the difference when you buy such a hunting dog for your hunting activities.
You also have the option of buying a small puppy and training it yourself. This is only recommended if you love training dogs and have a flair for it. You would need to have all the qualities which are required by a hunting dog trainer. It's not very difficult to train a hunting dog if you are very keen in training one. Follow all the guidelines which every dog trainer does in training.
Look out for the following two things which should stand out in every hunting dog - a very good nose for sniffing out any kind of prey and the ability to not get disturbed or scared by the sound of the gun's firing. Retrievers can be considered as very good bird-dogs. . Hounds and bloodhounds, such as Beagles, are very good when they are used for tracking the prey. They have a high sense of smell and don't get confused even if they are given the task of tracking multiple preys. They do fabulously well when they are sent down to track other animals like foxes, deer and bears.
Labrador retrievers are loved for their ability to move across water and retrieve a duck when it has been shot. On the other hand Spaniels can be used as pointers. They are experts in directing you towards the place where birds are present. So now that you know all the tricks associated with picking a good dog, go get one for yourself.
Matthew Kepnes has owned many hunting dogs and finds them well trained, loving, and excellent dogs. He especially loves Beagles and find they make the best pets and hunting dogs. For more information about Beagles, visit Matt's website on beagles and how to train beagles.

Training Your Dog
Training your dog means that you are teaching your dog the basic rules and things that should be expected by you. These can include the common rules such as not peeing in the house, walking closely on the lead, and listening to commands when they are spoken. This is something that virtually all owned dogs deal with, and you will be hard pressed today to find an owned dog that has not had some form of training. These common guidelines are what make the dog special in the field of family pets, in that they rely on us for so much yet are intelligent enough to understand what we want from them.
Works Both Ways
When it comes to training your dog, this is something that basically works both ways. You will relay to the dog what it is you expect of them, and this will give you the chance to understand what your dog understands. This is a bond, and with dedication and work, you could find that this relationship will be one of your fondest. Dogs are amazing animals and they show just how smart they are each and every day. Using the power of their intelligence, you should be able to show them that they can follow your rules and be productive as a family pet. You will enjoy your dog far more, if you take the time to ensure that it is trained. There will be far less conflicts between dog and owner, and you will be enjoying them more than reprimanding them.
For The Family
Training your dog is as much for the dog, as it is for the whole family. Dogs are an animal that mingles within a family setting quite well today, and if your dog is not behaving due to a lack of training it will bring the whole family to a standstill. No one wants to get rid of the family dog, but if the dog is simply not behaving there is often no other alternative.
This is why training is so important, as it teaches the family dog exactly what is expected of them and how they should behave. Without training, the family dog could actually cause quite a few problems in the home and this would not be enjoyable for either the dog or the family. Take the time to train your dog, so you do not have to face such a decision in the future.Gives Them Opportunities
Training your dog will give them opportunities that they would not otherwise have. They could actually go with you to places that without the training they simply could not. Some restaurants and cafes allow the presence of dogs, and if your dog is poorly behaved they will not be one of the lucky ones. Take the time to train your dog right, and you will be glad that you did. Training will help the dog in your home, as well as socially.

Dog Parks - Good Or Bad?
Dog parks are a place where both dogs and their owners can go to socialize. But are they good or bad? Though there popularity has skyrocketed in the past few years, they have both supporters and people who don't feel comfortable bringing their dog there for a variety of reasons.
Dog parks provide an outlet for many dogs to burn off pent up energy that might otherwise result in frustration that leads to destructive behavior at home. People are often advised to give their dog plenty of exercise, and one of the most convenient and popular places people look to for their dog's exercise outlet is at a dog park.
There their dogs can run and play with other dogs. They can have interaction with other dogs that they wouldn't otherwise have on a solo dog walk in the neighborhood. This is an excellent way for a dog to build up his socialization skills as long as the owners of the dogs remain vigilant in monitoring their dog's interactions. There are rules in most dog parks. Dogs are usually separated to some extent by size, with the large dogs having their own area in which to run and play and the small dogs are then free to run in their own area behind fencing without fear of being mauled and attacked. Some parks may only allow spayed and neutered dogs to play which reduces any problems with fighting for reproductive reasons. Another positive aspect of dog parks is that they allow dog owners to meet each other and discuss concerns about their dogs and other things. Quite often people know each other only by their "dog's" name , not their own! Dog parks have many positive benefits to both dogs and owners providing there are rules and everyone abides by them and respects other dog owners and their dogs.
On the negative side of things ,despite efforts to ensure only dogs with good manners come to parks, there can still be fights that break out amongst dogs in dog parks.
Under the right (or wrong) conditions, any dog can play rough or get into a fight. Dogs have been known to be injured at dog parks. Some of the rules that were spoken about prior can require owners to show some proof of vaccination before allowing their dogs to enter. This can be a hassle and dogs can still pass on illnesses to each other. Some dogs such as pitbulls, rotweillers, and other more aggressive breeds are excluded from some parks. This can seem discriminatory to owners of these dogs when their dogs have been known to shown no signs of aggression. Other people feel that it's unfair to deny park privileges to intact dogs, especially when female dogs are not in season.
As with many situations, much of the negative behavior that happens with dogs at dog parks is due to the lack of involvement of their owners. Even though it is a free environment and the dogs are enjoying themselves, owners still need to watch and understand their dog and his body language so that they can head off any altercations that may be brewing. With increased supervision on the part of dog owners, the likelihood of dogs getting hurt, either through rough play or by becoming involved in fights, can definatively be lowered. Some owners do not watch their dogs very carefully or they allow small dogs to pick fights with large dogs, or large dogs to run over small dogs. This then creates tension and bad feelings amongst the owners, which unbeknownst to many, can transfer to the dogs.
It's important to consider all of these different points when you are thinking of taking your own dog to a dog park. Ask yourself some honest questions. Is your dog friendly with other dogs? Is your dog up-to-date on his vaccinations? Does he have any kind of lingering virus that he might pass on to other dogs? Is he very small or very large or likely to be injured during play? Will he come to you when you call if there is any kind of trouble in the dog park? Will you be able to watch your dog carefully if you take him to the dog park?
Whether or not dog parks are good or bad for your dog requires that you give these questions careful consideration before deciding if you want to take your dog to the park. Dog parks can be lots of fun for dogs but it's up to you to look out for your dog and keep him safe wherever you take him.

Preventing Dog Chewing Tips
When you leave your house do you sometimes return to find your pup or dog has been busy chewing on your stuff? If this is happening in your house, you will certainly want to train him not to do that anymore.
It isn't hard to figure out why puppies and younger dogs want to chew up whatever they can. Use this understanding for helping to control the puppy chewing. All puppies go through a teething process and chewing things helps them deal with the discomforts of teething. Puppies and young dogs up to age 3 are definitely going to have more chewing urges than an older dog. However, a dog of any age may chew just to be doing something to pass the time. Often a dog that is left without enough exercise, and finds himself bored and lonely may start chewing for lack of anything else to do. Whatever the reason may be, it is a problem that you can solve.
Here are some tips on how to stop dog chewing problems at your house.
1. The most obvious way to do some dog proofing of the house is to put the dog out in the yard during the times you are away from the house. If you would rather keep your dog inside the house, (or if he has a doggy door and can enter at will), you'll need to be sure to keep desirable chewable items out of reach of your dog. Closing all the houses inner doors is a simple and common sense way to eliminate many of the temptations from your dog's reach. For instance, keep your shoes and slippers in a closet with the door shut. Be sure to keep your remote controls and cell phones out of reach by placing them higher up on a shelf. Of course, be certain to keep all your foodstuff put away in the cabinets and out of reach.
2. Give your dog some good alternatives to chewing up your stuff. Chew toys are a wonderful and suitable substitute for your slippers. My pets have a chew toy called the Kong, and this has become their favorite chewable. The Kong is fun for the pet to chew-it is a sort of strange looking ball that features a hollow center that you can put some peanut butter or some other treat into. . If he's chewing something like a favorite chew toy, the chewing he's doing is no longer a problem-instead it's a fun way for him to spend some time.
3. You should stop your puppy from chewing anything unapproved immediately whenever you catch him in the act. One way to do this is to make a loud clapping sound with your hands and say "no" in a firm (but not angry) voice. This will get the dog to pay attention. However, don't punish your dog by hitting or yelling at him. Instead of yelling, stay calm and exchange whatever hie is chewing on and replace it with his Kong or another chew toy. As he accepts the new toy in his mouth, give him lots of praise. This will start to teach him that while he can chew on his toys, other stuff is off limits. It is only OK to correct your dog if you catch him in the act of doing something wrong. Punishing them hours after chewing up your shoes actually will only confuse your dog because he can't make the connection that you are angry over something that happened earlier. Dogs live in the moment.
By now it should be clear that there are some easy common sense approaches you can take to prevent a lot of the dog chewing problems you may be having. Your dog can't destroy anything by chewing it up, if he no longer has access to it. given that, you may want to consider keeping your puppy or dog outside in the yard while you are away form the house. So,you should always be sure to always provide them alternative chew toys to play with, as it is natural for a dog to chew.
When I have a problem with my dog's behaviors or want to teach them some new tricks I turn to the best dog training program to be found on line. Secrets to Dog Training.
I hope these tips have helped you with your puppy or dog's chewing indiscretions, and perhaps saved some of your personal items and skin, too. Top 7 Tips to Housebreaking Dogs
Regardless of whether you have a new puppy or a new older dog, housebreaking is always an issue. Housebreaking dogs can be a long, tedious process. Many owners actually inhibit the progress of their dogs because they are not aware of the steps they should follow. Take advantage of the tips I have listed, and obtained success with while housebreaking dogs.
1. Be Consistent- Failure to correct your dog for EVERY "accident" he has will baffle your dog and make him unsure of what you want from him. Create a schedule and be sure everyone in your household follows it to speed the process of housebreaking dogs along.
2. Take your dog on potty breaks frequently- Once an hour is a good schedule to follow. More frequently after your dog has eaten or drank water.
3. Pay close attention- Look for signs that indicate an "accident" is coming. Even if you're unsure, it won't hurt to take him out.
4. Crate Train- This is a good tool to use to eliminate "accidents." Many people think crate training is inhumane, but it provides many benefits for you and your dog.
5. Reward- Rewarding your dog for going potty outside will let him know that's what is expected from him.
6. Avoid Puppy Pads- It's much easier to take your dog outside frequently, than to teach him to go on a pad. Besides, you still have a mess to clean up.
7. Feed appropriately- Allow your dog to eat when you will have adequate time to take him out several times, and try to limit his intake.
Housebreaking dogs really can be easy if these tips are followed. It may sound like common sense, but practicing these guidelines consistently will help you become successful much more quickly.
Housebreaking seems to be a major point of frustration for most owners. All dogs will have "accidents" at some point in time. Getting mad at your dog create conflict between the two of you.Dogs feed off of our energy, so try to remain positive when you are housebreaking dogs. And keep in mind, some breeds are easier to train than others. When housebreaking dogs, NEVER EVER hit your dog or rub his nose in his mistake. So if your dog doesn't pick up on potty training immediately, don't fret. Housebreaking dogs sometimes takes longer than we'd like, but it will happen.

Dog Parks and Your Dog
Dog parks have a mixed reputation. Some people feel that dog parks are a wonderful place for dogs and owners to go and socialize with others. Dogs can sniff and play in a safe, fenced in environment and become well socialized with other dogs. Owners can give their dog exercise and friends, while also meeting and interacting with other dog owners. Off leash dog parks can provide the only true freedom that apartment dogs have, and can give a dog that lives in a house without other canine companions the opportunity to socialize with his or her own kind.
However, there are also stories of dogs being attacked or hurt at dog parks. There are numerous incidents of dog fights and even a few horrific news stories about dogs being killed at dog parks by other dogs. For this reason, many citizens speak out against dog parks, or alternatively insist on having segregated small dog areas or banning certain breeds of dogs from parks.
Taking a dog to a dog park can be a wonderful activity, but there are certain guidelines you should follow before taking your pet to the park, in order to make sure that you are and your dog are not a hindrance to other responsible dog owners who wish to enjoy the park as well.
Only balanced, non-aggressive dogs should be let off leash at dog parks. You should be reasonably aware of your dog's temperament and his or her propensity towards fighting with other animals. Socialization in a structured form, such as in a training class, while on leash, or with other dogs that you know, is important to ensuring that your dog behaves properly in a group. Until you know that your dog is not likely to attack another dog over a territorial dispute, and that your dog will play well with others, you should not allow your dog off leash at a dog park.
A dog park should also not be a dog's only source of exercise.
A dog who goes to a dog park should already be in a healthy and balanced state, not overwhelmed with energy and excitement. Walking your dog or exercising your dog before a visit to a dog park can be very beneficial in ensuring that your dog plays well with others and is not too high energy or the rest of the dogs at the park. A dog that is aggressive about wanting to play can inspire growls from older, calmer, or snippier dogs if that dog comes on too strongly. You should also be very careful about introducing food or treats at a dog park. Dogs who are not generally aggressive may become very territorial or dominant when there is food or a treat at stake. Even if your dog does not tend to be aggressive when a treat is offered, other dogs might be provoked by food, and you want to minimize the chances of a fight or dispute taking place. It is these types of disputes that can pose risks of deaths at dog parks, and all pet owners want to put off the day when they will have to bury their pets and buy pet urns or pet gravestones, for as long as possible.
Finally, you want to ensure that you clean up after your dog if your dog uses the bathroom at the park, and that your dog will come to you when called. You do not want to spoil the park for others, so it is essential that any messes your dog makes me cleaned up promptly. Furthermore, you don't wish to be chasing your dog around the park endlessly if your dog will not come when called.
Watching dogs interact and play with others is one of the many joys of being a pet owner. Years from now, when you are looking back on your dog's life, writing pet memorials or thinking back on the good times, you will be able to remember giving your dog this chance to play and frolic with other pups. However, you want to make sure you do so safely and responsibly.

Dog Doors
A dog door is a small entrance in a wall, door or window to allow dogs to enter and exit a house themselves without anyone opening the door for them. There are many benefits to having such a door, both for the animals and the owners. Many different products are available and they come in various types and styles.
Having a dog door is very convenient. Once it is in place, there is no further need to let your dog outside manually. This saves you a lot of time and nerves. It will also curtail unwanted behavior such as barking, scratching and excreting in the house. If you give your dog the freedom to go outside as he pleases, he will very likely be outside more often. The increased amount of fresh air and exercise will keep your dog`s body and mind in good health.
When it comes down to choosing an appropriate dog door, you really have the freedom of choice. No matter how tall your dog is you should be able to find a decent product. Keep in mind though, that small children can pass through certain doors!
Here`s a short list to give you an overview about the various types:
Door entries: Installed very easily, they are usually placed at the bottom of a door. They are made of plastic or aluminum and consist of one to three flaps. The flaps are soft and flexible and therefore easy for your dog to pass through. Depending on the weather conditions in your region, you may want to go with a 3-flap system (more energy-efficient) to protect your home from extreme temperatures. All of these doors include some sort of a closing panel in order to close off your dog`s access.
Note that this kind of dog door is the least expensive due to its simplicity.Wall entries: These types of doors can be installed in almost any interior or exterior wall. Depending on the manufacturer, most of the doors are made for a wall thickness of 4-3/4" to 7-1/4" (12 cm - 18 cm). It is possible to buy extension tunnels in order to extend beyond 7 1/4" (18 cm). In most cases they are made of aluminum and have 2-3 flaps. As well as the door entries, the wall entry doors can be bought in different sizes.
Other popular types are patio and electronic dog doors. Both of them are a little more expensive. By installing an electronic dog door, you literally give your furry pal its own key to the house. A so-called smart key is used to operate it. The key should be worn on your dog`s collar and it communicates through radio frequency with the door. It automatically unlocks when the dog approaches. This kind of door is battery powered. Patio dog doors work in a similar way as the door and wall entry doors. Giving your dog the chance to leave the house on a hot summer day to find a comfortable place on the patio is great.
It`s possible to install all of the above mentioned dog doors on your own. The process will take you about two to three hours and is rather simple.

Thrashing Early
My salutations to those of you who are putting in the hard yards. Who are thrashing early as Seth Godin would say. What does thrashing early mean?
Getting it all worked out before you make the thing. Every possible functions been thought of. The anesthetics been worked over, draft after draft until the thing looks like a piece of art.
And most of all, the audience is part of the entire process. Not literally. That would be nightmarish. Crowd consensus gets people like George W Bush elected into office. No, I mean that youre considering your audience, your users at every stage. What will they think or feel when they use this or that function? Will they be satisfied, thrilled, or will they walk away disappointed, frustrated, even angry?
Developersyoure no different from us writers. We have to get into the heads of our characters and our audience. We have to know what our characters will think, say, or do at any given moment, in any given situation. And we have a fair idea of how our audience is going to react to our characters. Some are there to be loved. Some are there to be hated. And our worst nightmare is ambivalence, or worse yet, complete forgetfulness.
So, ask yourself this question. Are you creating an app that will satisfy, thrill and engage? Or are you creating something forgettable?
Heres some examples of what I would consider forgettable.
Sales Cloud 2 (a web CRM app)
Survey Monkey (an e-mail marketing app)
Webpage Capture (iPhone app for capturing stuff while browsing)
Fiscalfy (financial web app)
Ive reviewed them all for www.appsummary.com. The first two I could take or leave. Theyre functional but bland, and there are a whole lot of other options in the CRM and e-mail marketing fields that I would use instead. Smarter, prettier options that were thrashed out early, that have a whole lot of design effort behind them.
The second twoI actively despise. So in that case I suppose theyre not forgettable.
Webpage Capture and Fiscalfy are just badly thought out. There wasnt any thrashing that I can see. Some gentle, lazy wiggling maybe, but no serious thought process in evidence.
Its a crime really. Even bad apps take time and energy to build. So why would you invest that money and effort without planning it out first, making sure that what youre going to make is WORTH MAKING?!
So before you commit your time and effort to the coding, the making of something, before you take up the time and sweat of that group of talented and able developers youve recruited, remember to thrash.
What do we want the app to do?
What does the audience want the app to do?
How does our app need to look to stand out from all of the dross out there?
Is it worth making?
Im looking forward to a virtual world out there that isnt swamped with the ill-conceived digital trash that Im forced to wade through in the search for genuinely well-made and inspired apps.
Help me out here guys. Help your audience out.
Thrash!

Teaching Your Kids Dog Etiquette
There are many safety factors that we teach our kids through their years of growing up. One of these is not to go up to strange dogs. This may have been enough of a safety warning years back, before dogs where being so mistreated and interbred. Now because of these practices, a parent needs to extend their safety teaching, when it comes to dogs or any animal whether domesticated or not.
Strange dogs to kids often means scraggly stray dogs that they see rummaging through the garbage. They often don't include a cuddly looking cocker spaniel on a leash, being walked by its owner. Without thinking, the youngster will run up to the dog simply to pet it. The dog is taken off guard and snaps at the child, and possibly bites him. The dog is not nasty by nature, but here is a stranger charging at them, and the dog is unable to get away because its on a leash. In this circumstance, the parents without thinking of what has just happened here, will criticize the dog owner for not having a muzzle on the dog.
This is really unfair and a most avoidable situation. Children need to be taught the proper approach. First from a distance they should ask the owner, if they would allow them to pat the dog. This way the owner who knows the dog's temperament, will either say yes or no. It gives the dog owner a chance to prepare the dog, by having the dog sit, and gives the dog time to see the youngsters coming towards him.
Another lesson in dog etiquette should take place within the home with the family dog. Often we allow our children to become rough with the dog and are quite content that the dog is so forgiving. Then all of a sudden one time, the dog turns. Again, this is not fair to either the child or the animal. Children don't mean to be rough, but toddlers especially, aren't able to perceive what may be hurtful to the dog. The animal could be suffering from a ear infection, and the youngster happens to pull the dog's ear. Of course the dog is going to turn.
The proper safety training, and kids with pet etiquette, is to teach the child how to have fun playing with the dog in a safe manner. Throwing a ball or stick, or racing around the yard is great and safe both for them and their beloved pet.
